adult's first visit

Your first visit will establish a vital foundation for our relationship. Your comprehensive exam is the first step in obtaining a healthy beautiful smile. Our objective is to ensure that your visit is pleasant, informative and exceeds your expectations. Please reserve one and half hours for this visit. During your comprehensive exam and often on subsequent recall exams the following are performed and discussed.

• You will be asked to complete a patient registration form along with a health history addressing allergies, medications taken, systemic and heart conditions. Without complete knowledge your care could be compromised. You can save time by downloading these forms and having them completed when you arrive for your appointment.
• All necessary digital dental x-rays are obtained. It is always helpful to bring copies of your most recent dental x-rays and/or have your previous dentist forward them to our office but not necessary.
• Your teeth will be charted and existing restorations in place noted.
• A full-mouth periodontal evaluation and probing to determine your overall gum health, what type of cleaning best serves your needs and detect any gum disease.
• Professional teeth cleaning when possible, it is often necessary to return for special types of cleanings.
• Oral cancer screening by visually examining the cheeks, tongue, palate and surrounding soft tissue.
• A complete tooth-by-tooth cavity evaluation.
• Occlusion (bite) and jaw joint function analysis.
• Color evaluation for those patients interested in cosmetic whitening.
• Patient education on product selection, homecare and diet as it pertains to dental health.
• Professional referrals provided when necessary for specialized procedures.
• You will be given a customized treatment plan designed to incorporate your immediate, intermediate and long-term dental needs.  All fees, co-payments, insurance coverage and payment options will be discussed for all needed and elected procedures.
• A return appointment that suits both parties will be scheduled.
• A personalized dental care bag.
• Ask questions; we want you to leave our office feeling confident and secure with our dental team.
